It depends on the battery type. For rechargeable batteries, calibration is usually not needed. Charge the battery fully before first use and avoid draining it completely on a regular basis. If the battery percentage looks inaccurate, you can recalibrate once: charge to 100%, use the device until it shuts down, then charge to 100% again without interruption.
